Surrenders

From today Staffy Rescue will regrettably not be accepting surrenders. The reasoning behind this is we just do not have enough space at our shelters nor the ability to assess the dogs following proper surrender procedures. Hundreds of dogs die each week in pounds and by taking on surrenders, dogs who do not have a home loose the opportunity to ever have a second chance at life. Yes we may take dogs that have been surrendered to the pound by their owners but at least your dog has an option. It may not be the best home for them but they still have one. People need to practice responsible pet ownership and understand that a dog is a commitment for life, you would not surrender your child due to change of circumstance or behaviour issues so why would you surrender your four legged family member?

We have been over whelmed with the amount of surrender calls and emails. Please do not contact us if you want to surrender your dog. We are more than willing to give you advice or the numbers of trainers/behaviourists that would be useful to your problem but we cannot take surrenders. Sorry for the inconvenience this may have caused you but our responsibility lies with the 100s of homeless dogs in pounds that is the whole goal and mission of Staffy Rescue.
